sensitive children

Chinese medicine is a holistic medicine, where the healing focuses on balancing the qi of the internal organs, taking into account both physical and emotional symptoms. Children are generally more susceptible to getting sick, but they are also quicker to heal. For many common pediatric complaints, healing can be attained through dietary changes, the use of simple massage techniques, and laser therapy. The goal of all pediatric treatment is to restore balance and harmony to a child.

Many conditions that children suffer today are caused by sensitivities to the environment and food, giving rise to respiratory, skin, and digestive issues.  Michelle has many years experience and attained a wealth of knowledge through self-education and in-depth discussions with the parents of children who suffer from sensitivities. Children generally respond quickly to treatment along with sensible dietary recommendations, especially for those periods of time when the child’s immune system is vulnerable.

Acupuncture and laser therapy are safe non-invasive forms of treatment and are therefore suitable for children in assisting the strengthening of the immune system, working towards preventing recurrent illnesses.  At Brighton Acupuncture, it is highly recommended to use pediatric acupuncture or laser therapy in conjunction with Western medical advice.

Unfortunately there is very little research into the efficacy of acupuncture on children, and children cannot be viewed as miniature adults, as their systems are underdeveloped.

However, some of the pediatric conditions that have to shown to benefit from acupuncture are:

  • nausea and vomiting
  • asthma
  • seasonal allergic rhinitis
  • bed wetting
  • gastrointestinal disorders – sore tummy, loose bowel movements, constipation, colic, irritable bowel, ulcerative colitis
  • pain – body pains, headache

Please feel free to contact Michelle directly to discuss your child’s needs.

Please note: Michelle does not claim to diagnose or cure allergies, sensitivities or intolerances.
